A new international terminal in Almaty, Kazakhstan, from TAV Airports

On June 1, 2024, Almaty Airport opened the doors to its new international terminal, boasting capacity of 7 million passengers. The terminal has 12 boarding gates and 3,200 square meters of retail space, designed to provide international passengers with a quality experience.

The ambition: Five stars in the Skytrax ranking

The airport is aiming for a five-star Skytrax certification and EDGE Advanced certification, a guarantee of excellence in passenger experience and sustainability. Through its integrated business model, TAV Airports will deploy its service subsidiaries to improve operational efficiency and the passenger experience.

The airport doubles its capacity

With the opening of this new terminal, the airport’s capacity has more than doubled to over 14 million passengers. TAV Technologies has introduced its IT solutions throughout the terminal, including electronic gates to ensure a smoother flow of passengers. The existing terminal will be converted for use with domestic flights.

Traffic at Almaty Airport on the rise

Almaty Airport welcomed 6.4 million passengers in 2019 and was among the first to return to pre-pandemic levels. In 2023 it logged 9.5 million passengers, a 32% increase over the previous year.
