In Türkiye, a pivotal year for TAV Airports

2025 saw the completion of several major infrastructure projects in Türkiye that will enable the airports in the TAV Airports network to embark on a new phase of growth, transforming the passenger experience and thereby better supporting the country’s economic and tourism development.

Investing for the future

The completion of major infrastructure projects in Ankara and Antalya marks the end of a period of significant investment for TAV Airports.

As the Turkish capital’s gateway to the world and a major transportation hub for Anatolia, Ankara Esenboğa Airport has been operated by TAV Airports since 2006. The work carried out at the airport, representing an investment of €230 million, was completed in 2025. In particular, it included a 77-meter-high control tower, a new runway, and a cargo area with six aircraft stands.

"Over these three years of construction work, we have quadrupled passenger traffic at Ankara Airport and, together with our stakeholders, have continued to increase the number of direct international flights. Ankara is at the center of international relations and politics, and also a tourist destination and a gateway to Anatolia."

Supporting the growth of tourism in Antalya

An initial investment phase totaling €850 million at Antalya Airport was completed in April 2025, bringing three years of intensive construction work to a close. The passenger capacity has been increased to 65 million, and over the course of the concession, it is expected to exceed 80 million passengers following further investments. The floor area of the international (T2) and domestic terminals have nearly doubled, reaching 225,000 m² and 75,000 m² respectively. The total retail area has almost tripled. In addition, the development of 1.4 million m² of apron space has significantly increased the number of aircraft stands, which now totals 202. A multi-story car park, new taxiways, connecting roads, maintenance hangars, a general aviation terminal, and other infrastructure were completed as part of this first phase of investment.

Transforming the passenger experience

Passenger experience is at the heart of the Antalya expansion project. The range of lounges has expanded to include three categories: Comfort, Elite and Premium. Passengers can now enjoy a varied and unique selection of dining options in Terminal 2. The highlight for diners is a collaboration with renowned Turkish chef Ömür Akkor, who offers a modern take on traditional recipes using seasonal and local ingredients. A duty free store from ATÜ, a leading brand in airport retail and a subsidiary of TAV Airports and Unifree Duty Free/Gebr. Heinemann has also opened its doors in T2, reviving the successful Old Bazar concept with a wider selection of local food and souvenirs.

These investments reinforce Antalya’s position as a leading airport for Mediterranean vacations, meeting the growing demand for air travel to the Turkish Riviera.
